Lucky enough to get your hands on a new phone this Christmas but not sure what to do with your old one? Here are some of the places where you can sell your old mobile phone.
Christmas is great for two things: 1. getting shiny new tech, and 2. draining the bank balance. If the guy in the big red suit brought you a new phone for Christmas, but you’re also feeling the pinch, we’ve thought through some of the best ways to make some cash from your old phone.

Gumtree
Cutting out the middle man and selling privately is often the best way to sell your old mobile phone if money is the priority, then Gumtree is a great option. The snag is that you’ll have to deal with inquiries and viewings yourself, and you can encounter people who might waste your time (like a lot) with silly offers and multiple emails that go nowhere.
You can set and edit your own price on Gumtree so if you want a quick sale you can undercut others, or put a higher price and wait for a bite. Another option with Gumtree is to offer to trade in your phone for something else you want. For a straight sale, a 64GB iPhone 6 is likely to get somewhere between $450 and $600, depending on the condition of the phone and how great your ad is.

If you’re up for a no-fuss way to sell your phone, asking friends and family could be the winner. You’ll likely sell your handset for less as ‘mates rates’ undoubtedly come into play, but it’s certainly less effort than the options listed above.

There are quite a few websites that offer to buy your phone and send you cash. Mobile Monster and Mazuma Mobile are just two of the top competitors and are pretty similar in the prices they offer. Their services are quite simple to use – enter your details into the website and they’ll send you a mail bag for you to post them your phone, then you’ll receive cash in your account – ca-ching!
