Is my WiFi modem compatible with amaysim NBN?

If you are using a WiFi modem/router that you successfully used with a previous NBN provider, then it should be able to connect with amaysim NBN.

Older devices might not work effectively with NBN and may limit your speed.

We recommend using hardware that is less than five years old. If you are looking to connect to speed tiers 100mbps or faster, we recommend that you use a WiFi 6 modem/router, which is best suited to deliver high speeds around your home.

You can also check this with your device manufacturer or retailer.

What is your NBN connection type?

First things first, do you know what NBN connection type you have? If you don’t already know, you can find this in the Order Confirmation email we sent you, or by checking your address on our website.

If you have:

  • FTTB: Fibre to the Building

  • FTTN: Fibre to the Node

You’ll need a VDSL2 compatible modem. These modems will generally have a port labelled 'DSL' on the back.

If you have:

  • FTTC: Fibre to the Curb
  • FTTP: Fibre to the Premises
  • HFC: Hybrid Fibre Coaxial

You'll need a Wi-Fi modem/router with a port labelled 'WAN', 'NBN', or 'Internet'.

That's it, you should be all set. Happy days!
